Posted in Strangers A true ‘kind eyes in strange places’ moment! Posted on March 1, 2020May 21, 2020 by kindeyesandstrangeplaces View this post on Instagram Night 1 in Entebbe: After a mildly wild goose chase for a restaurant, we ended up at a tiki bar on the banks of Lake Victoria just as the sun was setting. • • Our waiter, Arnold greeted us and joked around with me about something I can’t recall. He had a cheerful, mischievous vibe, and he sounded more like me than anyone else in my party. • • “Where is your accent from?” I asked him. He smiled at me, almost as if he was joking and said, “I’m from Philly.” “You’re from Philly?!….I’m from Philly!” “Are you joking?” “No, are you joking?” He was born and spent his first 7 years in the city of brotherly love, just long enough to take a mid-Atlantic Ameirican accent with him back to the Pearl of Africa. • • Needless to say, Arnold and I became fast friends. The planet is enormous but the world is small and “coincidences are just God’s way of remaining anonymous.” • • Love to you, Arnold, my new friend! I hope our paths cross again one day! • • PS. Arnold’s favorite Roots album is Game Theory. My maaaan. A post shared by micaeli rourke 💭 (@hearmerourke) on Mar 1, 2020 at 4:41am PST Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
